In short
This website uses no analytics and no advertising tools and sets no cookies. The Everyfile app reads file names on your Mac only; the index never leaves your Mac, and there is no account.
Hosting and server logs (Cloudflare)
The website and the download are hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data to deliver and protect the site: IP address, date and time, requested address, browser and system information (user agent), amount of data transferred and status code.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the site securely and reliably). A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Cloudflare. Processing in the USA is possible; it relies on the safeguards Cloudflare provides (EU standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
Downloading the app
Downloading the file creates the same server logs as above. No account or sign-in is needed.
Appearance setting
If you set the site to light or dark, your browser remembers this locally (localStorage). This information is not sent to us.
Contact by email
Emails to hello@everyfile.app are forwarded to my mailbox through Cloudflare Email Routing. I process what you send to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR) and delete it once the request is closed, unless a legal retention duty applies.
The Everyfile app
Everyfile reads file names and metadata on your Mac and stores the index locally. There is no telemetry, no usage statistics and no account. File names are not sent anywhere. The license check for Pro runs offline.
Automatic updates (Sparkle) are not active in the current beta. Once they are, the app asks the update server for the newest version; technically, your IP address and the app version are transmitted. This policy will be updated then.
Buying Pro
Selling Pro has not started yet. Once it does, payment is handled by a payment provider, and this policy will describe its data processing.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Write to the email address above.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony (Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen), Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.
